Margaret Addington was born February 28, 1797 in Russell County, Virginia. She was a daughter of William Addington and Margaret (Cromwell) Addingtion.

When Margaret was 5 years old, her father, William Addington, was admitted to the insane asylum in Williamsburg, Virginia. At the age of 17 or 18, Margaret became involved with Tandy Welch, the son of Robert Welch. The Welch family lived near the Addingtons in the War Gap Ridge section of Russell County, Virginia. As a result of this involvement, Margaret bore Tandy two children:

Marriage

Margaret married Peter Stallard, son of Raleigh Duncan Stallard, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Stallard, on December 19, 1823 in Scott County. They had the following children:[1][2][3][4]

Death

Margaret Addington Stallard died August 15, 1882 in Scott County, Virginia. She was buried in the Stallard-Moore Cemetery in Dungannon, Scott County, Virginia.[5]
