Notables Project
Gray Lock Abenaki is Notable.

The Native American Grey Lock (also known as Wawanotewat, Wawanolet, or Wawanolewat)) was a war chief of the Abenaki people who is known for leading a daring campaign against white settlers in Massachusetts between the years 1722 and 1727, an episode known as Grey Lock's War (for the Abenaki leader) or Dummer's War (for the Governor of Massachusetts).

He was born into the Waranoke tribe of Massachusetts, apparently in the years before King Philip's War. He probably was one of the Native Americans who fled from Massachusetts in the aftermath of King Philip's War and settled in the Hudson River region at Schaghticoke (near the mouth of the Hoosic River) in Mahican country in about 1676 and 1677.

In 1712 Gray Lock was named in reports as an Indian from "Montroyall" who had attacked Northampton, Massachusetts, in an attack that was one of the last raids of the War of the Spanish Succession.

Lock-1656 and Abenaki-4 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same profile image, etc. Lock was not his surname and is not an appropriate choice for LNAB. Abenaki was used as LNAB on Abenaki-4 because it is a tribal name that he is associated with. This is the approach used in Project:Native_Americans in WikiTree. The project should be able to provide further guidance on how this should be handled.

Concur with this and have added NA project as co-manager. Needs ppp to protect LNAB. Can you add that please, Ellen? Thanks.
