I have visited this house twice, and it is an educational and enlightening experience. For whatever reason, there are not hordes of visitors, which makes the tour even more enjoyable. If you ever visit Plymouth, put this on your list.

John and Elizabeth reportedly wintered in town with their son Jabez sometime after this house was built in 1667. At that time, John was 68 years old, and Elizabeth was 60 years old. The harsh New England winter would have been difficult on their remote farm at Rocky Nook once their children were all grown and gone.

After John's death in 1673, Elizabeth lived with their son Jabez and his family at this house. The house was sold in 1680, at which time she went to live with her daughter Lydia (Howland) Brown in Swansea. She stayed with Lydia's family until she died in 1687.
