Two photos : in youth in California, about 1927

and in his last photo in about 1973 in San Diego, in my mother's apartment.

the candle of Mary was a table decoration at the Wedding of his grandson Todd Bender to Fernando Larios in October 2015. My father, born in 190, would have objected on all grounds. My father was not religious, he sympathized with Archie Bunker, and he loved his grandson Todd. But then we didn't know Todd was gay.

My father came to Los Angeles in the 1930s. He was a coach at the Los Angeles Tennis Club and a barker at the Pacific Ocean Park Pier (which burned down in the 1960s). He wanted to be in theater and loved the arts. His Askenazi unknown father was the genetic contributor--the only part of my family lines to be arts-interested. Thank you, Mr. Unknown and all your families before you, including some living Berman family members, located through ftdna.com
Copyright by Roberta Burnett and Todd Bender, from scanned family photos recently coupled, October 10, 2015. Displayed publicly at a wedding fest, October 10, 2015, Locust Grove, Poughkeepsie, NY. The smaller photo was taken by Roberta Burnett, San Diego CA in 1983-4 in his wife's apartment. The larger was probably taken in Los Angeles, CA in about 1941 or between 1937 and 1941.

The votive candle did not represent Ralph's religious affiliation. It was a decoration at his grandson Todd's wedding to Fernando Larios in 2015.
