Hi Steven, Does he have a profile on Wiki Tree yet?  And if not can you please provide any details that you know.  Hammond is a pretty common name.  Some are my third and fourth cousins , not sure if yours is from that same line.

Married to Julie A Hammond

Children were Nancy Jane Hammond Orton & Levi Hammond

1860 United States Federal Census on Ancestry

Thanks Steven, I think I see your tree on Ancestry....

I see another tree that has the 1860 census and is consistent with a listing of the 1860 census showing a George W. Hammond in Russell KY.  Parents in that census accordingly are Jeremiah Wilson Hammond and Serena.     See link.  Please let me know if you are not on Ancestry and I will see if it is available on Family Search.

The problem with that George W is that the dates don't match up,  mine died in 1880 and that one I believe in 1912 ?   the names and dates don't match up all of the way

and also  Thank you very much for all of your help and time you have given

Thank you

No worries, that is what Wiki Tree is all about. I have an appointment today but will look at it again this afternoon and  see if I can discover anything else.  I do realize that the math is not perfect.   But thinking the 1860 census may hold clues as to the correct family as some names do match and the place is not far off.  I have ancestors in records recorded with differences in age as much as ten or twelve years off, but were definitely the right person.  The census takers were not super accurate and often a kid was farmed out to another family or left out of the tally because not present that day.  Parents especially in the rural areas didn't see a need in any government count or why someone would show up at there place asking questions :). Back to you later.....
thank you, going under the premise that my dates are correct how do we account for two different death certificates and I also have this also  the grave marker

 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/10056989

not saying your wrong but if they are one in the same  they really screwed up big time then
One of the things I was considering also was that the two of them may of been cousins with their fathers being brothers ???  but have not had any luck with that either on my own and my very very limited resources.
Yes that was more what I was implying than being the same George W.

Ok ... so more exploring.   I found this George Hammond in the 1850 Census.

Name: George Hamond [George Hammond] Age: 5 Birth Year: abt 1845 Birthplace: Kentucky Home in 1850: District 2, Owen, Kentucky, USA Gender: Male Family Number: 593 Household Members: Name Age William Hamond 32 Mary Hamond 26 Sanford Hamond 7 George Hamond 5 John Hamond 3 Aaron Hamond 1

Have you ever explored this George being the son of William Hamond and Mary ?   Spelling changes often happen even within one generation as you probably know.  Or again, the census takers not spelling it with 2 mm's .

Also besides the "new" George asking about above...  Do you think Levi W. stood for Wilson ?  That is in several trees of the other kids and siblings of  Levi.   Often the mothers maiden name was used as a middle name, can usually be a clue of a Wilson maiden name or grandparents name, as you probably know.  And do you think Levi had 3 wives ? LE Ballanger and Hattie Stearns being the other two ?      Also looking at the Jeremiah Wilson Hammond family closer and the Wilson came from his mother  Hulda Jane Wilson.     I see where your George Washington Hammond and his Julia A  were married in Russell Kentucky.    I am sure there must be some connection.   Will search on census pages around their listings for a possible connection.  Not finding so far any other Hammond family that could be cousins to Jeremiah W family.   But, also not finding a spouse or family listed in any of the trees for their George W. b: abt 1846 according to the 1850 and 1860 census.    You said you had a death for him in 1912, I am not finding that source. So far I see one died in 1911 married to Mary Frances Surface but have no clue if this George W is the son of Jeremiah Wilson Hammond:   See;  George W. Hammond BIRTH 2 Sep 1847 Boone County, Kentucky, USA DEATH 8 Mar 1911 (aged 63) Boone County, Kentucky, USA BURIAL Big Bone Baptist Church Cemetery Big Bone, Boone County, Kentucky, USA MEMORIAL ID 203142541 · View Source     As, I said I think the clue of being a connection of some kind is that no trees of Jeremiah Wilson Hammond have any spouse or children for him and they lived in Russell KY where yours married.   Also a daughter of Jeremiah named Mary moved to Clinton, they often follow other family members.

So keeping with the exploration:  need to contact a private tree owner if you have not already, and see what they have on this George W.  in Kentucky.  Ancestry tree private :   Showing same birth and death dates as your George.

Just FYI here is my cousin George Hammond in Missouri...but they came from TN and KY so may be connected someplace:)My Hammond

I no longer have the member ship with ancestory so  its hard to do anything there right now, but you have more in one day then I did in weeks of looking
Oh, ok well sorry :( I am putting up all these Ancestry records and I just found a public tree that has the most comprehensive records for the Jeremiah Wilson Hammond family it is public Combest tree.  According to them, His father's name looks like was George Washington Hammond b: abt 1775 Lincoln County KY  d: aft 1860 (is in census record being 85) , and Hulda Jane Wilson b: abt 1793.

Children :  Shelby Hammond 1810, George Washington Hammond 1811, Jeremiah Wilson Hammond 1817, Martha J. 1823, Joseph 1824, Charles 1827, Alexander 1829-1855, Cyntha 1831-1911, Elizabeth Hammond Helm 1832-1923    .   George SR also had a second wife Esther or Easter Daughtery b: 1786 (this tree is not showing children for them).     I think I would see if you could find children for some of these male children of George Washington Hammond 1775 and go down those legs of the tree to find your George.    The places and names are too much in common.   Genealogy is a puzzle and the pieces fit someplace :)   Have you taken a DNA test Steven ?
WOW  that is more then I have ever found for it, and yes I have taken one it should be on my homepage or where ever it is kept
Cool , if you use the married in names in the tree of George Sr. And see if you match some of the odd surnames  in particular you can prove or disprove using triangulation of DNA segments .  Will get back to you on a list of names to try. And a article on how to use triangulation. I have broken three brick walls in my tree and my husband's birth father and grandfather using DNA results.
The only problem is that I don't understand how to use it to find anything out, for example if you and I were third cousins, I would not know how to use it to see if we were a match or not. I have read the info for it but its all Klingon to me  lol lol lol and also without having ancestry I cant go into most of it to find anything

Your testing company is Ancestry DNA?

And also have you ever read courses on a blog dnaexplained.com, by Roberta Estes , presented in a much easier to get fashion than the other tutorials. If you just get the basics and triangulation of chromosome segments, you could work with matches to see if you match other descendant surames in the Jeremiah Wilson Hammond tree. I agree it is hard to build out trees without an Ancestry or Family Search (which is free by the way). (And if you get your Ancestry subscription back check out the Combest tree and more on descendants at Ancestry tree with George Hammond 1775 ) And I agree getting replies from matches has gotten near impossible. Anyways, hope you can figure out the connection, was happy to be of some help.

you have been a tremendous help I will be and am working along them lines now trying to work with the GW from 1776 and work my way down  it may not be the right one but it may be a branch or a shoot off of the right one   and ty so very much
and no its Living DNA
