How to find Ontario births and deaths

I hope I have the right place to ask. I am looking for my Mom's sister who was born and died in Ontario in 1933-1934. When I look at Ontario Vital Stats, they say they don't have them digitalized and they suggest looking in Ancestry, or Family Search. I looked in both, and can't find her. Is there something else I can do?

The sister was born and died in Ontario in 1933-1934. So, she only lived a short time of about a year? Was your grandfather born in Whitby on 28 Aug 1904? Were his parents Francis G and Sarah Lily Rogers?

Would you have the city and county in Ontario where your mother's sister was born?

Hi Carole, The Canada Project has posted a page with some Ontario resources, which may be helpful.  For people born less than 100 years ago, you may need help of someone with specific experience in Ontario, as privacy laws ensure the information is unpublished for a period of time.  If you can edit your post by adding tags like Canada and Ontario, you'll get the attention of the right people a little more quickly. Meanwhile I'll see if I can flag your question to someone on the Ontario team.

Thank you! I forgot about the Canada project.

Thanks for looking Frank. I will answer the questions from Laurie, but no, her parents weren't who you mentioned. Nor in Whitby. smiley

Hi Carole, Like Frank, I'm a little confused about whether your aunt died as an infant. If she did, you may need to order a birth search from Service Ontario. If she died in 1933-34 as an adult, you could try finding her obituary through Our Ontario.

If you're uncomfortable posting her name here, please private message me and I'll see if I can do a little more digging for you.

My pleasure. Thanks for the tags and best answer Maggie.
Hi Laurie, I guess I wasn't clear on my question. I was just trying to find out where I could go to find Ontario stats, and I didn't think to add info. Sorry.  Anyway, Betty Clare Rogers was born in Kenora, ON in Dec 1933 and died April 1934. She was just 4 months old. Her parents were John Rogers and Bertha Rogers (Schleiermacher also could be Schleier). My Grandpa was born in 1908 in England and died in Kenora, ON in 1972 and my Grandma was born in Morris Manitoba in 1904 and died in 2006.

If you need to do first hand research, all the records are at the Archives of Ontario in Toronto. If the records are not yet available, like death record for your grandfather, you have to order them from Thunder Bay.

Hi there,

I can't seem to find the record to which you are referring. I see 6 Rogers, of which I have added 2, but I can't see the one you linked to. Is there a way to search by contributors?

Thank you

Depends on which record link you are referring to, for the Find a grave, go to find a grave, search for the Lake of the woods cemetery, and then search for Rogers headstones, the photos are there with the dates etc

The ancestry record you will have to search for Rogers death 26-Jan-1939 in Kenora, dau of John Rogers and Beatha Schleil. I looked it up yesterday but didn't copy the link.
