John Borrie was born about 1846 (estimated) death date unknown. Born in Canada. Married Mary Louise Bodway. Per son Michael Borrie’s marriage record. We need more sources and help with this French Canadian family’s genealogy. There must of been more kids born to them besides Michael? The name Borrie often is misspelled as Borie, Borry, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you wikitree family

sorry, finding nothing for such a couple in Drouin, name variations abound as to which it truly was, Borry could be Barry, Baril....... or one of the numerous dit names that exist.  Bodway is definitely not French, so most likely to have been considerably mangled.  Beaudoin/Baudoin, Beaudain ..... are the possibilities that come to mind, but not certain.
Thank you it’s so hard these name variations. However I can say he is my great great grandpa and my great grandmother his daughter Annette Estelle (Borrie) Trombly is my great grandma and she spoke Canadian French as her parents. The French is hard as the names get so mangled in records and documents.

Andrew if you look at the link to Michael's 1910 Census, just ahead of him on the page is an Ira Borry, same spelling of the surname, also listed as Canada/French origin, same immigration year of 1883.

It is entirely possible that is a sibling of Michael.

Yes please do so lol

thank you

 very much appreciated : )
You can hook them to John if you think we've got it. Yay!
I have my dna match to a public ancestry tree for Tomboycecolchestervt his tree is showing same basically he has Jean Baptiste (John) Borry married young Marie Louise Beaudin. The parents of a John Borry as Jean Baptist Borry and Marguerite Girard
Can you access Ancestry records? The marriage at https://www.ancestry.com/interactive/1091/d13p_40260062 in the middle of the right page says Jean Baptiste Barré and Charlotte Simard.

Yes just for a few weeks only USA records though lol
I bet the middle initial A stands for Anastase. Michael A. Borrie died at age 86. The birthdate fits perfectly.
I hooked them to John I believe this is there parents based on everything.

Thank you for helping

Hi Christine

I would say that the spelling you have is probably the one that is inaccurate assuming he was actually french canadian. When french canadians immigrated to the states their names would be substantially altered.

I would suggest looking for the spelling Jean instead of John.

As for the last name, it does not sound french canadian at all. Perhaps Gaboury?

I searched for anything close to Jean Borrie/bory/borie/gaboury and nothing came up. Also looked for john but no luck.

Do you happen to have more information about where he was born or who his ancestors were?

There's this girl Mary Budway from Bellechasse in 1851. It looks like her parents are Antone Budway and Solin? Audet? I'm struggling with the writing and totally striking out with PRDH. Can you read the mother's name since it looks more French? It looks like the enumerator speaks English so he's bungling the spelling.

Beaudoin?

I was wondering if Marie Louise might be this woman, but she was Marie Apolline Beaudoin who married Joseph Urbain Couture.Still, it gives us evidence that Beaudoin became Budway for at least one family.

Could this possibly be the person listed as Jean-Baptiste Barre (L15Q-639) in family search?  There are 14 sources listed for him.  His wife is listed as Louise Marie Beaudin.  His Birth year is a little off though.

Many more sources to verify and combine.
