Dielman Culp = haplogroup R

Many Culp researchers have been attempting to connect their trees to Dielman Kolb/Culp, who is the subject of this book:

Cassell's History of Kolb/Culp

https://archive.org/details/agenealogicalhis00cass/page/n6

Be advised that three people who named Dielman Kolb as their most distant male-line ancestor have tested their Y-DNA and posted the results at the Kolb Culp Surname Project:  https://www.familytreedna.com/public/culp?iframe=ycolorized

They tested at varying levels of depth, resulting in haplogroup assignments of:  R-P25, R-U106 and R-Z381.  These branches all line up:  R -> R-P25 -> R-U106 -> R-Z381.

Of course these people could all have mistaken genealogies, or they could all have NPE's in their lines, but barring that I think we can say that Dielman Kolb and the descendants named in the above book should possess the Y haplogroup R.

Is this a reasonable conclusion?

Hi David,

Welcome to WikiTree! I can't answer your question, but I can provide some suggestions that might help you get more responses ...

I'd suggest adding the alternate surname spellings of the individual/family in question to the tags for your question (Kolb/Kulp/others?) to reach other possible collaborative researchers. Also, if you've found a profile here for the subject of the book that you mention (Dielman Kolb/Culp), I'd suggest editing your question to include that profile. And also for the book to which you're referencing, in addition to the image of the book cover which you've included, if it's available online, I'd suggest including a link to the actual book to which you're referring. Good luck!
Thanks, Rick.  Good tips.
