Edison I. Carr is the author of The Carr Family Records, Herald Printing House, 1894.

In my experience, that book only sporadically provides explicit sources or analysis, so use it with caution and try to supplant the data in the book with primary sources and a solid analysis. 

I have found a mistake in the book (also made in “The Carr Book.”) On p.43, Mary daughter of Edward and Hannah (Stanton) Carr is said to be she who married Josias Lyndon and lived in Warren, Rhode Isalnd. But Warren land records show Josias’s wife was actually the daughter of Robert and Hannah (Haile) Carr. See the research note here:

Keen question Valerie Lacey  .. My answer is that it depends on whether Edison I. Carr has validated his sources and information. 

Reviewing: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/LVQV-XZS and the 19 "sources" found in that family tree suggests that there are sources to research. 

However, If the information is important enough to "reference" or communicate,  I usually place it in a "Research Note" section or add it as a "See Also" listing.

In researching the Carr/Kerr side of my mother's family, I have found numerous instances where Edison's records diverge from birth, death, marriage, and census records.  But much depends on the family.  As others said, research multiple sources where actual records would be better than someone's genealogy book.
