I can't seem to be able to paste a table into a profile what am I doing wrong please

I use Linux office software + can't get a table ( of census details) to past into the profile what am I doing wrong?

If it is the literal pasting of the data that you are having issues with, this is most likely caused by some type of software interference.

If it is the display of the information that is the issue (not displaying as a table), then this is due to the markup used on WikiTree. WikiTree uses what we call wiki-markup (or wikitext) which is a specialized syntax used to format a page, where items like tabular indenting have no affect on display. For this reason, we uses special symbols and text to format pages, such as:

! Name
! Age

| Bob the Builder
| 19
|}

which creates:

Name	Age
Bob the Builder	19

----

I don't know if you can paste a table directly from your software. I can't paste one directly from Microsoft office. But I do know what works. Paste your table from Linux into the link for tables on THIS PAGE and a table formatted for WikiTree will be created and you can copy and paste the results from there into your biography edit box.
