Steamboat Category

On the 1880 Census record, my great grandfather's occupation is listed as steamboating. I don't know if this meant he was part of the crew or a captain of a ship. I looked for a category but I'm unsure how to record it. What do you suggest?

You could just use [[Category:Mariners]] for now, and narrow it down later if you get more information.

Was Frank the only man employed on a steamboat in the 1860s?

Yup. He ran the whole shipping industry all by hisself. wink

Okay, seriously, the problem when we only have one profile for every 3,000 people born since 1 AD is that a lot of people are missing from WikiTree. And that means that a lot of occupations are also missing from the occupations categories. (And, since only about 1/10 of the profiles on WikiTree have any categories at all, let alone occupations categories, that means that still more occupations are missing.)

What you might do is add the categorization tag to this thread, to attract the attention of the Categorization Project. They might have some better ideas for a new occupation category that would be a better fit for Frank's situation.

Thanks for the suggestion Greg. Added the categorization tag to original post.
