Captain Beefheart is now connected

Question

Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart is now connected to the tree. His only rival for sheer rock and roll weirdness was Frank Zappa, his lifelong friend and mortal enemy.

Vliet was descended on his mother's side from famous Kentucky horsebreeder Dr. Elisha Warfield and was cousins with Wallis Warfield, King Ed's consort.

On his father's side he was cousins with cowboy actor Slim Pickens (Lindley-664, also connected).

Thank you so much!!!  In May 1983 my one and only child was conceived about 100ft from his trailer in the desert.  TMI I know but we were both fans of his growing up.  And Zappa too.

Being my 14th cousin twice remove uncertain is pretty cool too.

I also had a weird fascination with Slim Pickens because he was another Californian and he was on everything I watched on TV and a lot of great movies when I was growing up.  When I was a kid there was a running joke that the Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom guys were still searching for that rare native Californian.  My Grandmother and I would say "we're right here."
