Mergin Sir John Byrons [closed]

I've proposed a merge between two of the Sir John Byrons, B-14 and B-300.  I didn't see the page with the three screens, where you're supposed to see how the final profile would look, which in this case is important, because of the wives.

Anywayhow, if anyone wants to comment, it's out there somewhere, wherever merges can be found.

The system won't allow me to put in both IDs

You have put them as unmerged matches. If you scroll to the bottom of th profile you will see it. Click compare and they will appear side by side.

I saw the side-by-side view, but not the third, merged, view.

The wives seem to be wrong in both extant profiles, and that will need to be changed.
You won't see the third view until you actually complete the merge.
Ah, thanks.

I wanted to get some feedback first, esp from the other profile manager, if possible.  I think this is the usual process here?
Perhaps you can investigate the wives issue before trying to merge? Also is he the same person or has someone assumed they are and added incorrect records?
I have continued to investigate the issue and I'm gaining confidence that I have the wives properly sorted out.

As the wife listed for B-300 is manifestly incorrect, that leaves very little substance to his bio, other than the history of the Byron property in Lancashire, which would also apply to B-14.

B-14's profile is pretty sound, if the reference to a first wife, Alice Strelly, is removed. She was the wife of B-299, and the mother of the next Sir John, ie, B-14.

Thanks for looking at these members of the Byron family. I would be inclined to take this slowly, build up the profiles until you have irrefutable proof that they are duplicates (the England Project Nottinghamshire county team should be able to help you with this), and only then propose the merge. On first look, they seem like different men.
