I am looking for the name of the woman who married Samuel Goodman (Goodman-2137) in Hanover County, VA in 1729.  She is my 4th great grandmother, but since I have no name for her I cannot create a Profile for her.  She and Samuel had seven children

Samuel was the son of Benjamin Goodman (Goodman-2071) and Lucie Blackwell (Blackwell-520).

After considerable more research I finally believe I have the definitive answer as follows:

The wrife of Samuel Goodman (Goodman-2136) was Elizabeth Horseley (Horsley-242).Elizabeth's parents were Robert Horsley (Horsley-244) and Frances Bassett (Bassett-1460)

I was confused for quite some time because Samuel's son Charles had married a young woman named Elizabeth Horsley.  Note the difference in the spelling of the surname.  This Elizabeth was the daughter of Rowland Horsley.  I'm not yet sure of her mother.

This is going to be a bit of a sticky wicket to set right in WikiTree so even though I'm 99% confident the above information is correct, I will still continue to research these two couples.  I want to be 100% sure with appropriate sources.

What are your sources? I am chasing the identity of William Blackwell's wife Mary who, along with him, witnessed Samuel Goodman's will in Hanover.

I don't see any records. There is an unsourced family tree on Ancestry which you may be able to use to find records:

    • Birth:  1709 - New Kent, USA
    • Marriage:  1726 - Hanover, VA (Virginia), USA
    • Parents:  Robert Horseley, Frances Bassett
    • Spouse:  Samuel Goodman

Thank you for your response.

There is an Elizabeth Horsley who was married to one of Samuel's sons, named Charles.  I think it would be a heck of a coincidence to have a mother of the same name.  Of course the unsourced family tree in Ancestry has a slightly different spelling for Horsley.

I think I will leave the question on G2G and keep digging.  I am always hopeful.
I show that the Elizabeth Horsley that you are speaking about married Charles.  She was the daughter of Rowland Horsley and she was born in 1744.  The Elizabeth Horsley that married Samuel was born in 1709 and was the daughter of Robert Horsley.  Must have been a popular first name in their family.
