Help Connect the Willson Family to the Global Tree?

We are working to make some new connections to the Global tree, and could use some help with the Willson family. There is a lot of information out there, and a lot of family to trace from, so if any of you could come in and help trace the lines until we hook them up to the existing WikiTree Family Tree, we'd love your help.

Right now, I am working on Hiram Edward Willson, and his family. He married Hannah Major, and they raised a family in Ontario, Canada. Some of that family moved to Michigan, as well. Any research you can do and build those profiles, is appreciated. I know we have a great Willson/Wilson presence here on WikiTree!

In the 1851 Census Hiram Willson is listed at Pickering in the household of Asher Willson. This is the same person with near certainty since Hannah Major is also co-resident. [link]

The household consists of: (name, age, place of birth, marital status)

  1. Asher Willson, 65, U.S.A., widow
  2. Joseph Willson, 34, Canada West (CW), married
  3. July A Willson, 26 CW, married
  4. Elijah Willson, 23, CW
  5. Margaret Roundtree, 21, CW, married
  6. William Roundtree, 27, Ireland, married
  7. Hiram Willson, 24, CW
  8. Asher Willson, 17, CW
  9. Francis Willson, 6, CW
  10. Levi Willson, 2, CW
  11. Susannah Wilson, 14, CW
  12. Hannah Major, 20, CW
  13. Sarah A. Roundtree, 2, CW.

It seem logical to assume that Margaret (4) is nee Willson, and with William (5) is parent to Sarah (13). It is also probable that Francis (9) and Levi (10) are sons of Joseph (2) and July (3). The page after the one I linked indicates 1 death in the preceding year, presumably Asher's wife given age 57.

Asher Wilson died April 1876, and according to Ontario County Death Registration #011550 was born at Connecticut. The 1861 Census has Ashur Willson at Whitby with a new wife Sarah (age 65), who he married in 1853.

Asher is mentioned here: http://www.pada.ca/books/page/?pageid=3343

Asher became a naturalized citizen of Upper Canada in 1834.

Land petition of Asher's wife, Susannah Stotts dated 16 Jan 1817.

Great idea!  I have found many relatives whom came to North America near the time of William Penn to find religous freedom as Quakers.  In my lineage, prior to the American Revolution several traveled from the Hardwick, N.J. area to what was then known as Upper Canada to meet up with other relatives in the Pickering and Whitby areas of Ontario.  Quakers were very precise record keepers and documentation of travel is found in Monthly Meeting journals.  The Lundy family was also prominant in the records as found through books by W. C. Armstrong and J. F. Mcginness.  Both of these books are linked to at Kitty's Library.  Some Quaker records are linked to at the Penn Early Pennsylvania project and the Quaker categorization lists also contain many profile links.  As a "word of caution", I have found folks with the same first name, LNAB, DOB, same city...  a spouse with the same first name and LNAB unknown, only to later find primary sources that indicate these are definately two different individuals.  Please be Extremely diligent when proposing merges!   Common names are often confused and data lost do to over-zealous merges of profiles.  If you find possible duplicates and are not absolutely certain, many WikiTree Arborists, such as myself are more than happy to take a look.  Thank-you!
