Where in the world is this particular Russell County?
Sorry it’s russell county virginia
It will be very difficult to find a slave owner that early in our history. Perhaps you can find wills for persons named Bowen and match up that way. Enslaved persons that were emancipated by proclamation in 1861 are sometimes easier to find because of the 1860 Slave Schedules. Another way would be a biography if they were relatively famous, family genealogy, or a history of Russell County might lead you to a large landowner named Bowen. That could help.

I found unnamed slaves on a census in 1840 (give or take a decade, can’t remember). All it records is the gender and age. I wish you well finding what you need.
