Can Robert be father to Anne (Waring) Darwin, when he was baptised in 1572, and Anne baptised in 1662?

Briefly:
Robert Waring - was both grandfather and father of Anne Waring : there are two references to Robertus Waring in Thoroton's History of Nottinghamshire.

 Regarding:
 Anne (Waring) Darwin (1664 - 1722)  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Waring-317

The page links to her father Robert https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Waring-318, baptised in 1572.

Examination of these dates above shows that it was unlikely that this Robert was father to Anne (Waring) Darwin:
Robert senior was baptised in 1572 – & buried in feb 1662, a month after Anne's baptism (both on page 6, Darwin Pedigrees); Robert junior died 1682 (page 27, Darwin Pedigrees);
I see the dates for Anne, 1662 from Darwin Pedigrees, and 1664 in Wikitree differ slightly.

Nonetheless; - I believe that Robert Waring (senior) had a son Robert Waring, and that Robert Waring (senior) had a grand-daughter Anne (Waring) Darwin, by his son Robert and Anne Pate.

Clearer evidence can be gleaned from the Staunton link:

Robert senior and Frances (nee Palmer, 1st marriage Staunton) had three children of their own; there were two to Robertus Waring; see Thoroton's History of Nottinghamshire page 309, or here  https://quod.lib.umich.edu/e/eebo/A62469.0001.001/1:8.60?rgn=div2;view=fulltext .

Just to square off the relationships (mentioned on same Thoroton page):
Edmund was Robert senior’s elder brother, and also had a daughter Anne (by Mary Broughton https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Waring-551) .
Anne married William Staunton, who happened to be the son of Robert's wife Frances by her first marriage to Anthony Staunton.

There is a more contemporary reference, a letter that mentions Anne’s grandfather Robert here: https://www.darwinproject.ac.uk/letter/DCP-LETT-472.xml

Several references on the net, but not all, describe Robert senior as father to Anne, so I know I'm contradicting these, but I believe this second Robert removes a lot of uncertainty. Even "Darwin Pedigrees" which includes masses of useful info, also omits the second Robert in a family tree (page 30).

Hope this is useful.

Best regards

Not unless she was baptised on her death bed.

That happened more than you might think.
The question was designed - to beg the answer that Robert must have been around 90 when he fathered Anne.

The discovery of a second Robert, his son, in Thoroton removes any speculation that would naturally surround that observation ...

Basically, there is an extra link missing in the tree. Several trees probably need to be corrected accordingly, by people who are capable of finding all the relevant trees.
