Well Elias this looks to me like a nice secondary source which will get you going - is there citing of the facts presented to their primary sources? (sources made at the time of the event?)

If not you do have the information there so doing a search on that I bet you come up with some to verify this and add to the profiles as well - I would tag the War and Military on this question as military records can be a pain to look up by yourself - they have resources to help you find those records - birth and death records can be found perhaps at Family Search

There are three profiles which could be the same Elias Tyler - Tyler-5288, Tyler-2508, and Tyler-2445. However each has some variation.

As for Elias Tyler (Tyler-2445), Elias Tyler's age is given as 34 in Feb. 1862 when he enlisted in the 9th SC Infantry. This indicates a birth @ 1827-8.

The Elias Tyler of Co. K, 26th SC Infantry, died  Aug. 1, 1864 in the N.C. Hospital, Petersburg, VA has on his NARA card "Certificate 4243" and "See statement of L. Busbee, Co D, 31 N.C."

The Find-A-Grave Memorial for Elias Tyler pictures a headstone has the inscription "DIED Apr. 1869 about 60 years of age". This indicates a birth of 1808-9 and poses a problem with the death in 1864 in Virginia. This marker is of the same style as Charity's.

In the 1850 census of Horry District, Family 810, Elias and Charity are both listed as 25.

In the 1860 census of Kingston Parish, Horry County, Family 742, Elias is 43 and Charity is 38.

In the 1870  census, Sea Green Township, Horry County, Family 1107, Charity is 48,  and she has a daughter Frances age 4.

In the 1880 census of Floyd's Twp, Horry County, Family 211, Charity is 55 and "mother" of Stephen Tyler. Frances M. is 13 and "sister".

Frances Missouri Tyler Hammond, born Mar. 9, 1867 and died Jan. 27, 1938 has her father named as "Lyas" Tyler on her North Carolina Death Certificate. This indicates the possibility of two different men being combined as one in the profile of Elias Tyler (Tyler-2445).

If any records are extant for Horry County in the year 1869, there may be an answer.

As to the Title Question concerning the Henry Tyler Genealogy depicted on the Bladen County genweb site - the answer is NO, the report is not accurate. The information listed contains a conflation of two different John Tyler men living in two different localities in the same time time period. yDNA results at the Tyler Surname Project show the North Carolina and Tyler descendants of "John Tyler" are of different haplotypes and cannot originate from the same John Tyler.

There are at least two possibilities for the John Tyler of Chowan, North Carolina. One John Tyler is listed as being imported to Perquiman's Parish in April 1663 by George Catchmaid. The other John Tyler is listed as being imported by Thomas Hodgkin in Sept. 1663 to a bay on the Carolina River.
