One reason why the McCullough family is so hard to trace is because of the MANY different ways that their names were spelled. You will want to search one line of the family migrated to Missouri and Arkansas: McCullar, McCuller, McCullen, McCullan.
Another line went to Tennessee: McCullough, McCulloch, McCullock, And many are began with the "MacC....." Some are began with "McCo". Then, there's those who spelled it McCulley-and likewise shortened it.
The first McCullough came from Scotland, a little town called Wigtownshire. The family got into trouble and went to Ireland-I think the Irish Plantations. But, there's quite a lot of information out there, so long as you know the different ways that the descendents changed the spelling.
I was able to knock down a few brick walls on my mm's side, when a cousin, from my paternal side contacted me and shared his ancestry with me. His last name was spelled McCullan. The McCullan's research is fantastic. They were able to help me to find the sources and information that was lacking. Today, I need to prepare for my child's birthday slumber party, so I won't ha'e a lot of time. But, PLEASE look through ALL of my McCullough profiles, ask to join the "trusted list" and also the manager list, and I will accept the requests o'er this weekend. You can see what I uploaded. PLUS, if you check out my images and files in my profile, you will find LOTS of photos and sources for the McCulloughs. Browse to your hearts content, download what you want. I will gather up ALL of my McCullough records and sources from my other websites-and from my personal files through the curse of the next couple of weeks-and then I will send you the files.
Looking forward to collaborating with you. Thanks!!!!
