Cottier of Isle of Man

I have a Cottier who came from the Isle of Man. Of course I can't assume that the Cottier family were necessarily there for many generations, but does anyone have a history and or a significant family tree for Cottier's in Isle of Man, that I may be able to look through and try and connect into? My connection is James Cottier in the early 1800's. Thank you.

Cottier is a relatively common surname on IOM. I did a quick look in FamilySearch for James Cottier, b.1795-1805 & it throws up 6 baptisms pretty much all over the island. Given a lot of the Manx records aren't digitised or aren't indexed yet (so would be additional to those 6), certainty will only come with some research.
Thank you. It does seem to be relatively common there then, which suggests that there would be a history there, which is good.

There are at least 60 with the Cottier surname at Wikitree. A minimum of four of them are from the Isle of Man. To look into this, just click on Find at the top of this page and take the menu down to Surnames. Type in the Cottier surname and you can evaluate that list to see how many are from the Isle of Man.

Thank you. I understand that. I'm hoping that someone has further historical information than that. Unfortunately, as great as Wikitree is, not everything has been put in yet, and local historians can be a great source of information. I would like to see if we could get all these Cottier's together into one tree. It obviously doesn't seem to be so common a name.
