My line dates to 1530 in Switzerland (Gnaegi). Our tradition says the Amish migration (via England) may have been the source of the name, "Carnegie". But there were several men named Kenegy in Cornwall (England) by 1248. They apparently were on the losing side in the 'War of the Roses'. That opens two ideas. 1) Kenegy in Cornwall is a coincidentally similar-sounding name or 2) Kenegy is the source of Gnaegi, and perhaps also a source of Carnegie.
The Gnaegi haplotype is known - E1b1b1a3. Is the haplotype for Carnegie available for review?
By the way, we have genetic evidence that links Kornegay with Kenagy (US), and with Gnaegi (Europe).
