In the early times people did not have last names. But there were so many

people about with the same namepeople were required to come up with a

surname.Ofteen it was where they lived, what they did are anything that would

identify that person. In your case maybe they lived in the city of Brandenburg.

If you need some help I will help you. There is no charge at all.

just e/mail me and say yes to help and will answer all my questions.

Hi,

Brandenburg is a city and a federal state in germany - around Berlin.

My 2nd great grandmother was also a Brandenburg. "Friedchen Marie Brandenburg" There are many Brandenburg in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern area - a second federal state in germany.

I think, that they came once from the city or the area of Brandenburg and went to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and got probably the name, because they were from Brandenburg.
