For whatever reasons his Mother Amy chose to hide his fathers identity, the mood in the country at the time was very anti Chinese, one possible scenario, there are others yet most likely this.
He also travelled back and forth so there are a few records of that, Changed his name a few times. Yan Being his Chinese family surname, yet I think Lok or Lock become the more used surname, due to people at the time not understanding Chinese names.
Sort of exists in family myth, Stephanie and Myself both speak Chinese, she has a lot of family tree info including Thomas's other Children, Which I think Include Grace Winifred (Beadle) Stevenson 4 Children there my, John Beadle (bit of a drama between those two), Leigh Beadle (Not sure about her met her just vague memories), Jessica Beadle I've supposedly met her yet hardly rings any bells.
