Needing assistance on a relative, James Anderson (b. 1777), born in NC but found living in Blount County, TN.  Could present-day Blount County have been part of NC pre-statehood?

James had a son, Jonathan, and other relatives could include Bethenia Anderson Tallent (daughter, sister, or cousin), Eda/Eliza Anderson Tallent (poss. daughter), and Nancy Anderson (poss. daughter).  A name for James' wife is unknown.  Jonathan's wife, Sarah Ann Cummins Anderson, is buried at Middlesettlements UMC within yards of Bethenia.

Some studies have shown James to be the son of James Anderson of Knox County, TN, who had a will probated in 1797.  A son James is mentioned in the will.  I have no proof of this James being my James.
