Kobel Confusion

Question

I've got myself a bit confused about one of the Kobels in my family tree.  Basically, the dates are all over the place.

Andre (various spellings) Kobel was born in 1728 (no real source on that except what it says on FamilySearch).  He married a Eva Marie Schaffer (variations on the spelling of her last name), she passed away and he remarried.  His second wife bore children that are applicable to my side.  

But in researching his first wife, I get all sorts of contradictory information.

Fair enough.  But when I click on her father, I get a Christening record for her

so it shows her as 1760-which doesn't make sense-I thought maybe she converted to Catholicism on that date perhaps..but then I see this for his marriage

So I am mixed up big time somewhere.

First citation -  Andreae Kobel is father of Andreas Kobel (Andreas born in 1728) witnessing the marriage

Second is the alleged christening date of Marie Eva Schaffer

The third is the marriage between Adam Schaffer and Ann Marie

All the spellings are very confusing.  I guess they didn't have standardized spellings in Germany back then?

Europe wasn't like America in that era.  It had been a rabbit warren for centuries already.

Glancing through FamilySearch, there were Joannes Adamus Schaeffers and Maria Eva Schaffers getting christened and married in all of those places (and many more places).  So we're dealing with separate families, not one person moving around.

In Rodalben, there were two Joannes Adamus Schaeffers married in the early 1760s.  But the father of the Maria Eva christened at Arzheim was most likely the one christened at the same church in 1738.  Or his cousin of the same name in the same town.

Yes, clearly several different families. Also the spelling variations are not as varied as it seems. The records are in Latin and names have different endings depending on whether it is subject of the verb, object of the verb or a preposition or if it is possessive.  Latin Joannis is same as German Johannes.
