Still trying to find more info about John Trexler and his wife Elizabeth, specifically their parents. They were both born in NC somewhere around 1815. Elizabeth was previously married to a Barringer and had three children, in NC: Aaron b. c1837, Moses b. c1839, Elizabeth b. c1845. I assume her husband must have died and she moved to IL, probably along with a Lutheran group, where she met John Trexler, who I believe also moved to IL from NC with another Lutheran group several years earlier. They married in April 1846 in Pulaski Co, IL. They had 4 children together, one of which was my g-g-grandfather, Anthony Jacob Trexler b. 1849. The 1850 census shows John and Elizabeth living with her previous 3 children (born in NC) and their 2 children at that time (born in IL). John enlisted in the Union Army in 1862, mustered Camp Anna, deployed to Ft. Pickering (Memphis, TN) during winter of 1862-63. He died while at Ft. Pickering in Feb 1863, likely from pneumonia. I assume he is in an unmarked grave somewhere in that area. Elizabeth is shown living with her son Anthony and his wife in IL in the 1870 census. Can't find any more info on her after this. Would like to know if anyone has info on John and/or Elizabeth's parents? I have some possibilities, but nothing certain. I don't know what Elizabeth's maiden name was, as it was Elizabeth Barringer on the marriage license for her and John Trexler. If you need more information feel free to post here or email me.
