any object to change back to van Scherpenzeel as LNAB for Johanna (Scherpenzeel) Schenck, b. abt 1547 Netherlands? [closed]

Any objection to changing this back to the van Scherpenzeel close variant that previously got merged away? This changed variant will then match her father.

This is the mother of the immigrant.

We currently also have a Van Scharpenseel waiting to be merged, but I don't like that more Americanized spelling. This woman did not immigrate.

Our best merged away variant was Merged VanScherpenzeel-5, but it was still not quite good, because it lacked the space.

So, I would simply like to keep the current spelling on this variant, but add the prefix van_.

There is no hurry on this, because her pending merge duplicate has no descendants. But with only limited response, I would like to close this in one week, on March 22, 2014.

See http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/VANSCHERPENZEEL - there are still three older profiles that slipped through / haven't been red-stamped yet and that seem to be akwardly wrong to me. In the Netherlands the 'Van' didn't go that far back (that I know of) and it was never directly followed by the rest of the 'surname'.

Yes, I object. I live close to Scherpenzeel, and I just found an old map, made in 1641, that shows the name Scharpenseel. The wikipedia page provides yet another name, Scarpenzele, which is unsourced.

Hi Steven, see my answer on her profile page Scherpenzeel-1. I found some interesting info on her son as well (died crossing the ocean on his way to New Amsterdam but with his family).

I agree wit Enno. Scharpenseel would most probably be the LNAB in this case with reference to th other variations. Then she can be merged with Van Scherpenseel-2, Van Scharpenseel then being the LNAB.

so - this question should be closed with Van Scherpenseel-2 selected? Steven, Philip, and Enno, please confirm & I'll set that tonight (I'll be offline most of today).

Philip, if you see a profile that should have the red Do Not Merge notice, please add it:

{{New Netherland Merge Notice|signature=~~~~}}

or post the WikiTree IDs so someone else can.

Thanks!

Liz, it sounds to me as if the agreement is that the already matched Van Scharpenseel-2 is the final LNAB choice by both Enno and Philip. I am also okay with that choice.

There is also evidently another profile floating out there somewhere, Van Scherpenseel-2, which Philip had found.
