Seeking the father of James K. Polk Hackney, (1844-1930), of Wilson County, Tennessee USA

I am seeking the father of my great-great-grandfather, James K. Polk Hackney. He was born to Sarah Hackney (1819-after 1870) (Hackney-336). Due to a rumor that has been handed down in my family, I believe that his father might have been named Baskin or Baskins. There was a young man, who lived close by and was close in age, to Sarah, by the name of Robert Allen Baskin. I don't have anything to tie them together but he seems to be the most likely father. Sarah also had a son name George Washington (White) Hackney, born in 1852. His father is unknown, as well. Another clue that makes me want to believe the rumor is that both of Sarah's sons had the names of presidents. There were several Baskins, in the previous generations, named for presidents or historical figures, but none in the Hackneys. Sarah was rumored to be illegitimate, too, as well as one of her sisters. Any help would be appreciated, since this is the dead end of one of my paternal lines.
