Do you have the baptismal record? Sometimes there is information about the father on the image even if it is not given on the transcription?

The child’s name can also give clues, with the father’s name often being used as a middle name.

You can also use DNA testing to narrow down the possibilities for parents of the child.

i have been on the COP and because i still relatively new to researching the family tree, all i can find is that his mother was called sally wallis, and william was her son, whether he was her only son im not sure, my other problem is that william is quite common at that time, at this time all i can find is a birth record, but have been told that their is a bastardery record because most fathers still took responsibility for their children
thankyou, wondering whether illegitimacy wass one of several factor, maybe father passed before birth, or he just didnt care etc but will keep going, once again thankyou
If you would like to link his profile to your question someone may be able to give you more specific help.

For Cornish records, your first port of call should be the Cornwall OnLine Parish Clerk database

FamilySearch has digitised images of Parish Registers for Cornwall if you find a relevant record on the OPC database above.
