Issues in North Dakota 1930 Census?

I have several families I'm looking through that lived in Williams County, North Dakota. I can find them in several censuses, but not the 1930 one. Were there issues with data collection in the 1930 census in North Dakota? It seems like it could have been a particularly difficult time and place to record.

It is not just 1930! I have been working with a family of Russian-Germans who settled in the Ashley area in 1898. Some very creative spelling by the enumerators through the years on both the national and state censuses.

Hi, J,

I think I found your missing family on the 1930 census, right where they should be -- but with a hard-to-read spelling of their surname.  It's only written one time, and the "P" looks like a "D", so if you look for the family of "Diepers" a little over halfway down the page, I think youll find your Piepers-- if that's who you're looking for.  (I looked at your recent activity to deduce that was who you were looking for...)
