Australia's "unofficial national anthem" Waltzing Matilda lyrics by Banjo Patrson was first recorded by John Collinson and Russell Callow (on piano) in 1926.  In researching the Dawson name I found Peter Smith Dawson born in South Australia in 1882 and died 1961 Sydney, NSW.  He was a bass-baritone who recorded Waltzing Matilda in 1938.  If you are interested in his recording I found it on Youtube at

He married Annie Mortimer Noble, a soprano who had a stage name of Annette George.  I have not found any info on her career.

If anyone is interested in researching John Collinson from Queensland Australia, please do.
Also the Notable category of Australian Singers are very thin.  Thought there should be more profiles.
