Can someone who knows something about Native Americans take a look at this proposed merge?

Comparing Tamanend-1 (L) and Lenape-16 (R)

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:MergePerson&user1_name=Tamanend-1&user2_name=Lenape-16&action=compare

Can you tell me which way the merge should go and why?
Thanks!

I’m not sure there’s any evidence this person existed, but if she did, Tamanend is not a surname, it’s simply a man’s name. Native  Americans at this time did not have surnames.  Her LNAB should be the name of her tribe, which would be Lenni-Lenape or Lenape

It looks to me as though the merge should go from Lenape-16  into Tamanend-1

Tamanend must be the LNAB, it is also her father's name.

Lenape would be her married name, it is the last name of her husband and also her childs LNAB.

The surname of Native Americans born before they adopted the use of such, should always be the name of their tribe. This is the consensus of the Native American Project.

I don't know much about native Americans, but in the case of this proposed merge, it should go from Lenape-16 to Tamanend-1 , since Tamanend-1 profile was created earlier, back in 2014.

Since the child matches and the spouse matches, it seems this is the same person.

Hopefully someone can add some good sources and references to this profile at some point, too.

Just to reiterate, the surname should be Lenape, the name of the tribe.
And merge direction is NOT determined by the date the profile was created.
Thank you for the clarifications, Jeanie and Jillaine! Yes, it's much more accurate to explain the direction merges go is that they automatically go to the lower numbered profile, when the last name at birth is the same otherwise. Thanks for all your excellent points, which are quite helpful!
