https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Dawson.-1 has a dot at the end of the surname. I can't change it. Can somebody else do that, please, so it says "Dawson" (without the dot). I'd appreciate it. I can't figure out how to change the surname at birth to get rid of the dot.

There is currently no profile manager. If you adopt the profile you should be able to make the change.

I notice that the search function brings up the same list of Dawsons with or without the full stop, so it's not actually turning it into a name that is distinct from Dawson. You may therefore want to just leave it as it is, since it is having no real effect. There are at least four Dawson.s and changing them would create redirects for each.

I adopted five profiles with the LNAB of "Dawson." and changed it to just plain "Dawson". Probably this started with a typo on one profile that got progagated to new profiles that were created as family members for the first "Dawson.".
