Shouldn't Sir Walter Scott be on Protected Status?

I didn't know if this was the appropriate venue to ask this question. I found Sir Walter Scott is one of my ancestors recently. So, when I checked out the profile I was surprised to see he has no protected status. For those who do not know, he was one of the most popular and influential writers of his time. One of his most popular novels even is Ivanhoe.

Some say that author Scott O'Dell is related to Sir Walter Scott, so far I have been unable to connect him.

Hi Lynden,

1.) The profile you have linked to is not the Sir Walter Scott who wrote Ivanhoe etc. The author of Ivanhoe, etc. lived 1771 to 1832 in Scotland. I do not see any current wikitree profiles that match the known details of Sir Walter the author that you are referring to.

The profile you linked to is listed as a son of Sir John Scott and wife Anne Pympe, but as far as I can tell John Scott and Anne Pympe did not have a son named Walter, despite what a large number of internet genealogies say.

2.) Protection of profiles is usually based on being part of a project. Although he was made 1st Baronet (of Abbotsford), he was not per se from a noble family so I am unsure if he would qualify for the Euro-Aristo Project; He probably could be listed under the Scottish Clans Project as a descendant of Walter "Auld Wat" Scott of Harden (a junior branch of Clan Scott)

I thought about doing a Famous writers and Poets project for profile like this (i.e. if the above was indeed the author of Ivanhoe) but agree that if it there is one for Sir Walter Scott, it could be the auspices of the Scots project.
Thank you, Rob. I should have checked the dates. But I wonder because I also noticed this Scott may be descended from the Plantagenets. I just noticed it in a general print out. I will look at the links and double check the sources. Thank you again.
