Merge request - pre-1500

Question

Can a Pre-1500 Certified member merge Huot-136 into Huaut-2?"

Hi Gaston,

I've just tested it, and yes, for some reason being manager on both profiles will not let you approve the merge. I have taken screen shots of what I saw and we'll work on it this week with our other live bugs.

Robin, if you wouldn't mind waiting to finish this merge until next week, that should give us time to look into it. Thanks!

I just checked on the evolution of this merge: today, December 7, the merge has been "in progress" since November 21.

The five minutes are elapsed!

As you are the profile manager on both of them, which is the correct spelling.   It looks like Huot should be the spelling used for her last name, but you asked to merge in Huant....

Huot seems logical in present times but no source. RootsSearch refers to Huaut.

If I attempt, the message says: Pre-1500 Certification is required......

Then there must be a bug in the software....because you should be able to approve, just not "complete" the merge.   I am going to send you  a PM, so you can send me a screen shot showing the issue.

Can you take an actual screen shot? (Try the prt sc button if it's a windows computer, then paste it here). That message sounds like the merge may be approved, and just needs a Pre-1500s member to complete it (the wording says complete as opposed to approve.) Just covering my bases before we move it to a bug status :-)

1.  Charlotte Bournier (Huot-136) and  Catherine Bournier (Huaut-2)    compare
   Proposed by Emma MacBeath.
   Someone from Huot-136's Trusted List needs to approve.  
   Approval from Steven Barcomb for Huaut-2 has been recorded. 
         You might also see the comparison report on WikiTree+.  
         If Huot-136 and Huaut-2 are different people, reject the merge. 
         Arborists and Leaders: If there's been an error, remove the pending merge.

It shows that Huot is not approved, yet he gets the error when he tries to approve.   I can send you the actual screen shot, just cannot paste it here for some reason.

This issue is actually the reason why the "Start a G2G thread" feature was added in the first place.

When proposing or approving a merge, if you're in a position to complete it, you go straight to the completion page.  If you bail ot at that point, your approval is recorded.  But if you can't get to the completion page because of pre-1500, nothing is recorded.

This means you can only propose or approve a pre-1500 merge without a badge if it needs another approval, and doesn't already have it.

There was a thread about it, but no way I'd find it.  Way back soon after pre-1500 started.
