My Treleaven ancestors lived on Amherst Island prior to Canadian Confederation.  I believe a group of families emigrated together from Cornwall, UK and rented farms on Amherst.  Many of them then moved to homestead in Ashfield Township, Huron County, Ontario, Canada when that land became available through the Canada Company.  Would your Howard family have any connection to this?
