There is an (unsourced) family tree on Ancestry giving the year of death in 1857. This is quite probable as he is in the 1851 census but not in the 1861 census..

The other details have independent sources:

Charles Broad from tree Thomas / Steinhauser and associated families

Birth 14 Feb 1801 St. Kew, Cornwall, England

Marriage 21 Oct 1824 Cornwall, England

Death 1857

Father Robert Broad (1767-1841)

Mother Ann May (1767-1884)

Spouse Mary Mathews (1804-1864)

Any help tying up this loose end will be most gratefully received.

I will close this question because:

Records of birth, marriage, and death in Ontario. Indexes (where they exist) and registrations for:
· Births – from ca. 1830 to 1917, predominantly 1869-1917
• Marriages – from ca. 1801 to 1942
• Deaths – from 1869 to 1952
Nota Bene: Until the early 1900’s, many births, marriages and deaths were not registered with the provincial government. It was the responsibility of the people involved to register the event.
From https://www.archives.gov.on.ca/en/tracing/vsmain.aspx
So census records may be the only source dates of birth and death.

I've had a look and begun to make research notes on his profile, but this is mostly fleshing out more records for the children.

I agree that Charles passed away between the 1851 and 1861 Censuses. While the family is easily found in the 1851 Census, they all seem to have scattered around the area by 1861.
