Caught this today. Had to create page for her skipper, I suppose he's notable as he has a page on Wikipedia. Tried to categorise him to Britannia Royal Naval College but was told the category had been erased. Had to look through Categores, military, etc etc. Is it possible for the category bot thing to say which category should be used instead if one is removed? (Can you tell I'm quite pleased with the pic?) Oops, forgot the pic. Just going to get it. No. Forgotten how to do this, mortified. It's on my page now. Question still applies.

This privacy thing is annoying. But it's a pretty good pic.Can I just stick it up here somehow?

We can't really see the picture.

This image is privacy protected. Only the thumbnail is open.

To view the full image and its details you need to be in the Trusted List of someone or something tagged in the photo.

Finally (hope you are not all bored). Pic I love so much is on Jerry's page and also [[Category: HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08)]]. It's bigger there but goes to thumb nail when clicked. (I did check when logged out.)

Shucks, I still can't see it at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:HMS_Queen_Elizabeth_%28R08%29

To make the image visible, go to "View/Edit Image Details" on the  page for the image. On the left, below the heading "Edit Image Details" there's a box to "Add person or free-space profile:". Enter the page ID for a deceased person with an Open profile or a nonprivate free-space page. I think that should convert the image from private to public.

Feels like a lot is missing to make this a good Member on

I miss basic facts
  1. Birth place
  2. Birth date
  3. Parents....

The person in the profile is still living and as such deserves the privacy that the settings allow. In today's world exposing any more information about him could endanger his personal security.
Why add the person if you cant identify him... by not adding feels you respect this persons privacy even more and also respect that profiles in Wikitree should have sources and facts...
It seems to me that you don't say anything nice about WikiTree.

I speak about an empty profile.... I like good researched profiles with sources....

It looks rather odd in Wikidata with no facts Q20707202

It does not seem there is any more information available on him, he just seems to be a private person only known for the position he holds. Why not? Of course one might question the point of having a Wikipedia page for him - and consequently a Wikidata item - but there it is.
I found very easily that he was born in 1967 and a lot of other things about him so the information is out there. Before you ask I do not feel like researching him at this time.
I could easily find out his birthplace and his wife's first name along with her job and where they lived just a few years ago, Oh  and he has 4 boys.

All this is out there for even someone who lives on a totally different continent to find.
The boys are mentioned on his wikipedia page, did not find much more but I really wasn't looking hard. I'm not that interested either. I'd like to see the problem with the picture resolved though.

I added an unsourced born date with just precision year in Wikidata to at least give some position of him on the timeline see link

Here's a source for the year and place of birth https://www.bythedart.co.uk/living-in-dartmouth/people/an-interview-with-captain-jerry-kyd/

His correct name can be sourced from  https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/-/media/royal-navy-responsive/documents/useful-resources/navy-list.pdf?la=en-gb

The quarter date and place of  his birth registration together with his  mother's maiden surname can be found on  FreeBMD

His graduation from  the Naval college at Dartmouth , commissioning date and subsequent promotions would have been published in the London Gazette (searchable online)

However, none of this detail can presumably be viewed, even if on the profile since he is still living.
