What is the WikiTree custom in dealing with honours ie MBE etc

I have added these to the name suffix and given that the person has also earned a Knight Hood I have added "Sir" to the prefix

I can not find any guidance in how these should be handled.  I have detailed the awards in the Bio but thought they should also be featured in the name fields as well

KNZM, MBE should go in the suffix field but there might not be room enough. Sir should go in the prefix field (which Wikitree substantially ignores and deprecates). What is shown where is under “Display Names” (top right tab #2).

It is interesting that NZ has done away with what in UK is called a Knight Bachelor (eg Sir Paul McCartney cf. Sir Winston Churchill, KG) which has a prefix but no suffix. Wikitree Display Names suppress the Prefix which is a solecism. As a result of this some Wikitreers put the Sir in the Proper First Name and Preferred Name and do not put it in Prefix.

Hi Warren, nice to meet you.  Good work on the profile!

The Help pages have a small section on prefixes and another on suffixes:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Name_Fields#Prefix

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Name_Fields#Suffix

I hope they help... please let us know if you have further questions.

Have a great day!

It's also a profile the Notables Project might be interested in.
