Ive been a fan of this guy's work on Acadian/Cajun history and genealogy for awhile now. His work on surnames in Louisiana and Canada and migration are great.  Just throwing his stuff out there for the rest of you to gander at. http://www.acadiansingray.com/

Check out the Seven Ships link.

Of the nearly 2,900 Acadians who found refuge in Louisiana from 1764 into the early 1800s, more than half of them arrived on these Seven Ships.

Thank you very much for sharing it always great to get more insight on Canadian "Acadion" ancestry!! I'll give it a gander when I have time I'm gonna bookmark it thank you again
There are scans of the actual ship lists [http://www.acadian-cajun.com/7ships.htm here]--this would be a primary source. Steve Cormier has done a lot of research and often gives his sources.
I dont know if you checked out his page, but he sourced it all from what i can see.
Yes, I am very familiar with his work--I use it a lot as a research tool and I trust and appreciate his work. I have often usee his website, however, I like to take what he cites and double check that source for accuracy. For example, one could cite what he has for people on a certain ship or one could go to the original scan and see what it says for yourself and cite that instead. It's all good and very useful. Thanks for letting people know!
Thanks for sharing that, Larry. Just FYI, I edited your post so the title would give a bit more of a clue to the contents, and I replaced the tag "acadian" with the tag "resources" so this would show up when people look for G2G postings about "resources." (The Acadians Project recommends that Acadia be used to tag G2G posts about Acadians, and since we can only have 6 tags on a post, it's nice if we can avoid using several tags for a single topic.)
Thanks for all the help, clarification and tag clean up. Still learning the site and all it's lil buttons.
I should've been on this site years ago, when my memories were still organized and fresh. Still have a few people 1-2 generations behind me to help with family history.
