I realize this question is from a year ago, but I only came across it today. I thought you might be interested in knowing that my father's Y-DNA traces back to Walter ATHY
http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Athy-2 , who died sometime after 1656 in Galway, Ireland. He is my 10th great-grandfather. This line has a quite rare haplogroup, G-F1193.
My dad is
http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Athey-68 . Whit Athey, well known and respected in in the genetic genealogy world, is my father's cousin and also a descendant of Walter. Whit created a haplogroup predictor still in use. He is in charge of the Athey Y-DNA project, located here:
http://www.hprg.com/athey/ My dad's ID # within the project is 8468. His DNA is an exact match to the reconstructed Y-DNA for our immigrant ancestor, George Athy
http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Athy-16 .
Those of us that share descent from this Athy/Athey line are truly fortunate to have someone such as Whit overseeing our DNA project.
