Who are Larry's biological parents?

Larry Laurens is my best friends biological father that died when she was 5. Larry was adopted at birth in Portland Oregon. My bestie wants me to help try to figure out who her fathers biological parents were. She wants to be able to build her tree with the people she biologically descends from. I tried some google searching but the only stuff I was finding was for adoptees.

Does anyone know what steps we should take in order to try to find out this information? or can she even get access to the information since she isn't the adoptee? Both Larry and both of his adopted parents have already passed. So pretty much all we know is his full name birth date and that he was born in Portland, Oregon.

Is Laurens his birth name or adoptive parents's name?
adopted.
She should be able to get an original of his birth certificate you would think.... but I am wondering if she went through all that and spent the money to get an original copy of his birth certificate is it even going to have his biological parents' names on it?

According to the Oregon Health Authority.

Who may order pre-adoption birth records

  • Must be the adoptee or their legal representative - not other family members. Legal representatives should include a notarized permission note from the adoptee.
  • Adoptee must be 21 years of age
  • Adoptee must be born in Oregon
  • Order must be for a birth record where an adoption report was received, a new birth certificate was created and the original birth record was placed in a sealed file.

Yeah it was actually  me that added all that information to the Oregon adoption page last night.... Thanks though :)

I e-mailed them and they said that the only way a child of an adoptee can request the preadoption information would be with a court order.

Taking an autosomal DNA test will give her some clues to follow. By analysing matches she will be able to narrow down geographical locations and recurring surnames that can contribute to identifying the appropriate ancestral lines.
