As a matter of fact, there IS a William the Conqueror mini project. The goal was to clean up, source and complete five generations of descendants of William and his wife Matilda. It has not been very active lately, but there are still things to do. You would need to be pre-1500 certified to edit the profiles, but you can still contribute information without the certification.

Thanks Isabelle. Really helpful! Is there a part which deals with those who accompanied him on his invasion of England?
Not that I know of. This project is only for his descendants. The people who accompanied him would be another can of worms really (and quite hard to research IMO, seeing the debates on some of William's descendants - though they are royal and supposedly better documented than simple knights).
See here for discussion about that subject https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Companions_of_William_the_Conqueror

It is not straightforward. But in any case at least some of the small number of definite "companions" are on Wikitree. The ones who are not are I think people about whom their genealogical connections are unknown.
which is kinda bogus that you would need pre-1500 badge for any project exclusively. But it is what it is. It's harder then they claim too get that badge, you basically have to be a master at "wiki-tree style"

== Aka == <Ref>this</Ref>that. and don't forget this: ''' Biography '" [1.] he said Y '[2.]' she said<ref>Z<ref/>  [[Funky_monkey-1234| ''Jeepers'' creepers]]

But you would think it's all about this:)= https://www.familysearch.org/ !!!
It is frustrating, there are undoubtedly people 'out there' with information pertaining to pre-1500 people but that info is denied us due to the pre-1500 certification precluding ANY info being posted unless by a pre-1500'er.

I, for example, have data tracking the Bramfield Rabett line back, via a 1066 frenchman known as Rabel Artifex (who was a unique Invasion character, and believed to be the engineer of the first Norwich castle). He is indicated to be on a Tancerville line not as yet on wikitree, but which I have data upon.

It is a pity that there is not some mechanism by which a non pre-1500'er can post data - flagged as requiring pre-1500'er verification for example.

That way assistance could flow both ways, to create a far more informative pre-1500 database.

I do not see a specific project for William but you would need pre-1500 certification for any project involving him.
