Ok  I have asked to join the New Netherlands Settlers Project 4 times now and been ignored. I have traced my New Netherlands family back to LAMBERT VAN VALKENBURG in 1646, I have even been invited by Ellen Smith and all my requests to join this group and I  have been ignored.  WHY

Ignoring people who wish to join and have proof is not the way to get others to join. All that does is make people mad.

Hi Michael,

Sorry you have not been responded to more quickly...usually it is just a few days, at most a couple weeks.  If it's been longer than that, following up was a good idea.

I'm sure you will be contacted in a timely fashion following this post.

Mad is no way to be.  Maybe skip it for now and come back to it when it feels positive.

Thank you for volunteering!

Note:  no proof of descendancy is needed to join the nns project (or any other), only an interest and desire to help :)
Welcome to the New Netherland Settlers project, Michael! I'm not sure where your requests to join were going?

Since I'm the one who asked you to consider joining the project, I suppose maybe you sent me a message that I overlooked, but I can't find any record of such (I've searched through my PMs and profile messages). Anyway, my apologies if you contacted me and I failed to respond.

Now that you have been accepted into the project, since Wikitree projects are all about collaboration, I suggest that you start following the new_netherland tag here in G2G so that you will be alerted to relevant G2G discussions. Go to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following to follow a tag.

And for the benefit of other folks who are uncertain about how to join a project, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Projects has a list of the active projects with both (1) links to the project pages that have information about how to participate and (2) each project's G2G tag that you should add to your followed tags list and that likely will lead you to a G2G post with instructions for joining that project.

Hi Michael, I have sent your request to join the New Netherlands Settlers Project to the leaders of the project. One of them should be contacting you soon.

Thanks, David

P.S. Please add the tag: New_Netherlands_Settlers_Project to your question. This brings the question to the attention of the project members.
