His daughter Elizabeth Pratt 1790-1827 had a son named Henry who is with Elizabeth on the 1810 Census for Montgomery Co. He was born in June of 1809, county ?, state of Va.  Henry Witt is proported to be the father, I have found no evidence of this.  I know Elizabeth married John Huff and moved to Floyd Co. Ky where her father James lived.  I don't know if James Pratt had a son named Henry but his daughter did.  James died in Carter Co. Ky on 8 Oct 1854.  He was married to Rebecca Herrell at the time.  They were married in Floyd Co. Ky 1 July 1827.  She received his pension, from James being in the Rev. war.

Henry Pratt's real father
A 3rd cousin, Warren Pratt, also a genealogist, had done extensive research on Henry Pratt 1809-1886 in search of his father. Elizabeth Pratt was Henry's mother. She had Henry out of wedlock. Based on Warren Pratt's DNA testing, we now have proof that Henry Pratt's real father was Henry Witt, Born 25 Aug 1788 in Bedford County, Virginia and died 12 Jun 1809, the very same month, day and year that Henry Pratt was born. Henry Witt was 20 years old at his time of death. Did Elizabeth's father James
Pratt (often confused as Elizabeth's husband) shot Henry Witt? One may wonder. Also, Henry Pratt was married twice, Celia Hampton and Sarah "Sally" Gibson. Celia gave birth to 10 children and Sarah gave birth to 4 children. Also, Elizabeth Pratt's father, James Pratt was married 3 times. He had Elizabeth by his second wife, Sarah Hall. James had a second daughter also named Elizabeth by his third wife, Rebecca (Wright) Harrell (Herald). I am a twenty year veteran of my family genealogy. My mother was a Pratt and my father an Armstrong. We reside in Kentucky. I have a wealth of Pratt family history. Even a photo copy of pages of Henry Pratt's Bible sent to me by my cousin, Warren Pratt who verified the connection with Henry's real father, Henry Whitt.

Just wanted to follow up my comment with a more extensive description of James Pratt marriages and parenting. Elizabeth Pratt's father, James Pratt was married 3 times. James first wife was Sarah Littrell (Married 30 Jul 1799 in Botetourt, Virginia); they had no children. James had one child, (Henry’s mom) Elizabeth, born 1790 in Bedford County, Virginia by his second wife, Sarah Hall (Married 25 Aug 1808 in Botetourt, Virginia). Henry’s mom Elizabeth was the only child by this marriage. James third wife, Rebecca (Wright) Harrell (Herald) were married 01 Jul 1827 in Floyd Co., Kentucky. By James 3rd wife he had three children. 1). Enoch Pratt (Elizabeth Walker) born 1828 in Johnson County, Kentucky. 2). Rena Elizabeth Pratt (Pennington) born May 1832 in Johnson County, Kentucky and 3). Nancy Ann Pratt, born in Oct 1843 in Johnson County, Kentucky. James father was Thomas Pratt, born 1740 in Orange Co., Virginia USA and died in 1850 in Culpepper Co., Virginia. His mother was Marry Ann (last name unknown) I have yet to publish this information on WikiTree. Henry Witt's father was Jesse Witt Sr. born 11 May 1762 in Bedford, Virginia, USA and his mothers name was Alice "Aley" Brown born 07 Sep 1764 in Bedford County, Virginia. Also, I am no "Rookie." I have over 47,000 family members in my tree.Only less than 1% have been posted on WikiTree. I am currently waiting on my DNA results from AncestryDNA.com.

Thanks for the info on the Pratt family, very impressive.  Elizabeth Pratt Huff is my third great grandmother on my father's side.  Do you have any info on the marriage of John Huff and Elizabeth?  Were they even married since John was married previously to Fanny Thompson and suspect they were never divorced.  Also you stated in your e-mail that Thomas Pratt died in 1850 which would make him over a hundred yrs. old. I have his death c. 1814 in Culpeper Co.  I am also not sure who Elizabeth's mother was.  Which Sarah was her mother?  Also it seems by the dates of the marriages of James and his wives that Elizabeth was illegitimate, since she was born in 1790 and his first marriage was 1799.  Do you have birth & death dates for his first two wives?

It seems that you truly have a handle on your family tree with that many people in it.  I have only been at this since 2014.  I have been in the past been contacted by man who has a relative by the name of Vina Minerva Pratt 1849-1907, who is the daughter of Henry Pratt 1809-1886.  His name is Joseph Ricky Seals, son of Orville Seals.  do you have any connection to him?  He has a different version of Henry Pratt 1809-1886, he says he is the son of James Pratt 1764-1854.  Joseph sent me many pages of info on his family and I would like to know if you are interested in learning about him and his family tree.

Hope to hear from you soon.

John Wilson
I enjoyed reading your info on Elizabeth Pratt and Henry Witt.  I married a Hall whose mother was a Pratt and was doing genealogy for my granddaughter when I realized both my husband and I are descendants of the Pratts,  His comes from John Mack (Knock) Pratt and mine are from Hiram Gibson Pratt.  Very interesting.  I have traced the Proffitt (paternal) and Brashear (maternal) families as well.
