Hi there, WikiTreers! The Greeters need a few additional friendly folks to join our project.
We would LOVE to have the Greeter schedule filled for every hour, every day, but we only have about half of the time covered at this point. Most of us take shifts of an hour or two once or twice a week. We do have a couple of heroes who regularly cover ten or more hours in a week.
The main job of Greeters is to welcome guests and confirm volunteers as full members. Occasionally, guests send us messages asking questions about WikiTree. In those cases, Greeters may answer questions ourselves or refer further up the ladder. Once in a while, we notice spammers and alert the Rangers.
Qualifications:
- Courtesy is a must!
- A sense of humor helps, but isn't required.
- WikiTree membership for at least a month.
- Ability to post messages to profiles, edit profiles, and use email.
Experienced Greeters provide one-to-one training for as much time as a new Greeter needs. We also have a Google Group so experienced Greeters can provide backup (or comedy) at any time. New Greeters begin by covering one hour per week, and increase if they would like to.
There's a lot of camaraderie and supportiveness in this group that really makes it great.
