Hello all, I have some   questions, and i hope you all can help me.  Ive been reading over all i can on the project, and i have   been able to understand  now where all  the errors are  to  work with etc.  I have found so many profiles,  that   do not have a  profile manager, are we expected  to adopted these profiles to  fix them?  How  would i know if someone has worked on a profile   by fixing the error,  will it  still show thati t needs to be fixed?  Ive got so many   questions, but  dont want to sound like an idiot  LOL.  I just want to help in all i can.

thank you

You don't need to adopt a profile to edit it.

You can usually tell a profile has been fixed when you open it up and the error isn't there, like if the father and the mother of a person is the same, you can tell if the names are now different. People should be updating the status of the error, sometimes it doesn't show it's been fixed on the error report right away.

Also you can look at the changes tab to see the recent changes and any comments people have made, sometimes they note either what they fixed or the error number.

Good luck! :)

I adopted a profile because it was my family.I couldn't edit because it is pre 1500's and apparently I'm not good enough to fix it.I have come across another profile for adoption (same surname interest) but will just forget about it because of restrictions.

You really have to dig in and try editing profiles to understand better. There is a changes tab which stores all the changes made so that anything done can be undone if need be.

When working on database errors, you can access the profile through the status button all the way on the right. If someone has already fixed the error they should have left a message there to that effect.

Just one point if the LNAB is Unknown and you can add the correct LNAB you will need to adopt it to change this. Just don't forget to orphan it afterwards or you Watchlist tends to grow or someone may contact you about a profile you have little interest in

Good Luck

Hi Debbie

if you go to the Green tab marked Privacy on the profile you adopted and scroll down the the page there is a large Black Button with the words "Remove Yourself". It then removes you as profile manager and adds the "this profile is orphaned text needs to be adopted thingy back to the profile ;-)

You can use this on any profile you don't want to continue managing.

As an aside comment orphaned profiles are far better than managed ones where the manager won't respond!!

Good Luck
