Hi all!

I was noted by a very great fellow at the Dutch_Rooters (our best connector!) a few days ago- he knowing I am working on the rich/upper class Dutch families of Amsterdam during the Golden Age,giving them profiles at WikiTree- telling me that one of their descendants was in the news last weeks. It is really a great story and I like to share it with you.

One of the paintings of one of our famous Dutch Painters of the Golden Age [[Bol-24|Ferdinandus Bol]] profile made in collaboration with all Dutch-Rooters :) - was thougth for many many years to be a portrait of the artist's son (Ferdinand Bol's son). But dates didn t fit........... Bol married 1653 and the painting is of 1652 and the boy in it is 8 years old.

The painting of Ferdinand Bol was sold for almost 6 million euros at Sotheby's about to years ago. (Year of painting and age of the boy added to the painting by Bol in the lower left corner).

Around  a week ago or so it was broadcasted at Dutch Television who is really in this portrait and how the portrait came to England. :) All info now available at the profile of the real one portraited ( I am sorry the video is in Dutch, love to translate for interessted ones!!). The profile is not ready yet as the death date has not a good source (haven t find it yet) but a lot of info is in it.

The image is great! Boys those time wore dresses till the age of ca. 8 years. This boy got trousers, he looks really confident and proud! The glass of wine is prominent present at the image. Frederik s father was a Wine Trader.............  There is so much more to tell.......... Look at those eyes of that boy! They are just great!

Found more but not added yet as i am waiting for permission of a photograper that made a picture at the Huize ter Horst park of the waterpump holding the weapon shield Frederik added............. . I found just out tonight the weapon of his grandfather......... both with a sitting dog (Canis). His grandmothers LNAB is Canis......... but her brother in law using the same shield. He is not married to a "Canis"Might be coincidence, we will see. His grandfater was a coin master, making coins in Gelderland, The Netherlands. Using the sitting dog as a stamp at the coins made under him.

Hahaha mabey you do not get all but I am soo thrilled and enthousiastic about all founds.......... Thank you B.W.J for noting me!

Wish I could add images here. But I am just to blond to do. Please check out the profile and ask if you like more info...............

I just hope you like the profile...........

Humble but soooooooooooooo thrilled and enthousiastic about my finds!

Hi and thanks Astrid, Love the story, the profile and above all your enthusiasm, and added the images for you, to add one to a G2G:

* right click on the image you want to add to the G2G click copy image adress and in the G2G look at the grey box or field above the field where we type, the grey area where you can adjust or change the lettertype (font, size, bold, color etc)

* look at the bottom row, you see this first little square with black mountains + a moon ?  click on it, where it says URL, you paste the image URL you just copied, and go to the width box (just click on it as if you would do to edit lets say the width), now if the link works, the image will appear in the box and you can adjust the width and hight (so the size) of the image, if you think it looks ok you click ok  and voila there's the image added to your G2G, now you can align it to the left, centre or right and that's all.

Hope it works :) And thanks for sharing Astrid the profile looks great !

Well, hey there--that's great! I didn't know you could put pictures on G2G. Thanks for the instructions Bea.

Ahahahahahaha You told me before but it never worked! So I gave up trying!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it didn t work because I clicked just copy and not copy the adressssssssssss. Bea in the end you learned met this too!

BIG SMILE!

My pleasure Connie, it took me a while before I figured it out my self as well, and.. for those of you who don't know how to add a link to the txt in a G2G..

It's a bit similar, only now you select a part in the text (let's say I want to add a link to this part of my text, the: Amsterdam archive Index first I'll have to select this part of the text, (when you have done it right the selected text is white in a blue field) and then  I copy the link for the Amterdam archive Index, return to my G2G again in the grey area, bottom row but now look to the left of the box with the mountain and moon you see the little chain link there ? Click on it and there in the empty URL field, you paste the link you just copied, click ok and voila..the link is added to the text you selected. (the text now is blue and underlined (which means you have done it right)  :)

hahaha yes I know, so I thought I'll try it again, we're never to old to learn eeh . Have fun with it and happy you now can add images and stuff also Astrid ! :)

Amsterdam archive index Ahahahaha Dank BEA!!!

Als je maar weet hoe het moet! :)

Je verdiend zo'n sterretje hier............. (best answer!) maar dat kan alleen als je antwoord. lol of hebbie daar ook een trucje voor in het grijze gedeelte :D

Hihihi took me ages as well before I figured that one out. It's so easy when you know it, but before you know or have figured it out eeh :P

I had some wonderful teachers as well of course ;)

Let's praise YOUR teachers! Bedtime Bea. As ever.........:  big WikTree luv and hugs........... thank you....... trying again and managed! Very happy I got this. Bow!

Out............ Back to Amsterdam at the Duyvels..... and Dells........ :) Leaving Delft a little again. Added two General Secretaries to WIkiTree. One judged as great one as less.......... married to the first's sister........ Theme is: "It s all in the family"  :D Sometimes wish we could add the Archie Bunkers AND all Santa's too! In those days without social media just being family and networking that way........ :) It just a spiderweb.........

slaap lekker en love Archie, we sometimes named my dad Archie when he was in a grumpy mood :P

HI Astrid,

No wonder you are excited. What a rich history you have discovered about Ferdinandus Bol and then to add the portrait identification---well that is terrific.   I am looking forward to "the rest of the story" of the Canis connection.  Very clever how that ties in with the family .  Can't wait to read your profile when it is complete.

Hi Astrid,

I can imagine how you must feel. This kind of discoveries makes Wiki real fun. I just stumbled recently on a bit of Dutch History at our last Dutch Challenge. I tried to correct some info on an abandoned profile and ended up with the family of one of the CO-founders from the declaration of the Human Rights. A real interesting guy of which a lot of information already is being published on the Internet. I spend a lot of time of my last week of vacation reading everything I can get my hands on. This is why WikiTree becomes a real addiction to me. Thanks for your great work (together with the rest of the Dutch Rooters) on the Dutch part of WikiTree.
