Is 1858 date of birth or marriage?

Is /Carley an alternate last name?

or maybe a location?

If it's a location - what COUNTRY?

John Darcy Farrell was transported to Tasmania on the convict ship "Somme 2" 1950. Upon his release he changed his name to John Carley. He married Rebecca Cassells, who also had arrived as a convict on the convict  ship "Barreto Junior" 1950. This is how he received the name John Carley/Farrell
