I'm trying to find out about  Catherine Kammerle's parents, grandparents etc. as my great aunt didn't find out much about them. I only have their names.

Catherine Kammerle was born on January 31st, 1804 in Oberschaffhousen, Germany. She married Joseph Schneider(Snyder) who was born to Theresia Kurz and Moritz Schneider.

Catherine died on March 4th, 1896 in Snydersburg(Schneidersburg) Pennsylvania, a small village/town her husband created. Her parents are Joseph Kammerle and Anna Maria Fehrenbach.

I'm very certain they were Roman Catholic.

Note:  Spelling Variations are as follows

  • Catherine/Katherine
  • Kimmerle/Kammerle

Thank you!

From what I can find, Joseph Kammerle (Kammerle Kammerlin) was born about 1746, in Germany. His father was Blasius Kurz (1728-1782) born in Oberrotweil, Baden, Germany, and passed in the same place. His mother was Genofeva Hofschneider (1727-1784) She was born in Oberrotweil,Baden, Germany...  Not sure if he was adopted or not... not a lot of information.

Maria Anna Fehrenbach was born 24 JUL 1757, in Reute, Biberach, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. And she passed 17 FEB 1821 in the same place.

This is about all I could find on them... Sorry.

As an aside, I only live a hop-skip and a jump from Snydersburg, and am only one county away from there.  :)

Thank you!

Actually, you found her husbands mothers parents, or Joseph Schneider's grandparents. Perhaps he was adopted? He is around Theresia Kurz age, but younger.

Joseph  Schneider was born to Theresia Kurz(12/24/1757 in Oberrotwell to 03/26/1834 in Oberbergen) and Moritz Schneider(08/23/1755 in Oberbergen to 02/16/1831 in same place) and Genofeva and Blaisus are her parents. Do you think he could have been adopted then?

Thank you so much! :) could you send me the source, please?

Ooo, where is it? I'd love to visit it sometime! Along with Lucinda, my other ancestor made that town. That's really amazing to me.

I did most of the research through Ancestry, so you probably couldn't access it, unless you're a member. And you'd have to be a member of the international package to see the documents.

If I get the chance later, I'll try to see if I can find them elsewhere.

Thank you!

You re very welcome.

And I am sure there is more to find here: https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1473000 Typed in the last name of Anna and found many Fehrenbach's at Höchenschwand, Waldshut, Baden-Württemberg, Deutschland. Not far from Schaffhausen.

Kind Regards from the Netherlands! :)

A.

Please be careful with what you pick up on FamilySearch: Kümerle and Kammerle may look pretty close to an English speaker, to a German speaker they are nowhere near being easy to exchange. Also, Oberschaffhausen and Ballmertshofen are about 200 miles apart, the first in Baden, the latter first in the Duchy of Pfalz-Neuburg, then belonging to the Dukes von Thurn und Taxis, then Bavaria, and finally to Württemberg.
Of course Helmut! Thank you.

As long as there are no images of the real documents to check the transcriptions they should be used as leads.

Kind regards,

A.

Südbadische Standesbücher Online unfortunately only starts at 1810. The only other way of finding out more information is through church books. Since you think she was catholic you could try to find out if and where church books are available: pfarrbuero.boetzingen@kath-MarGot.de

Thank you anyway, I appreciate it. I'm certain this link will come in use later. Some family was born there around then.
